Governing Body

We’re a team of volunteers who work alongside the Headteacher and staff to help shape the school's direction and ensure every child has the best chance to succeed.

My name is Pete Willis, and I am the Chair of Governors (since September 2025). I’ve been a governor at Delapre since 2022. My eldest daughter has already been through the school and moved on, and my youngest daughter is still here. As a family, we’ve loved being part of Delapre – it’s a very special place – and I’m proud to take on this role.

So, what does the Governing Body do? Our main job is to bring our own skills and experience into the world of education, and to provide the right balance of support and challenge to Mr Snuggs, the Headteacher, and his team.

We help set the school’s strategic direction, policies and objectives, and then monitor progress against these. We also agree on the school’s annual budget and closely monitor how resources are spent, ensuring that every child benefits from the support they need.

The Governing Body meets as a whole once every term. Each governor also takes on different areas of oversight, such as SEND, Safeguarding, Finance, and subject areas, and we carry out learning walks and visits in school to see how things are going.

Above all, we are committed to making sure Delapre provides an excellent and safe learning environment where all children can thrive.

Finally, I want to thank the staff for their incredible dedication. They work tirelessly to create a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment where all our children can thrive. Thanks also go to parents for their ongoing support.
