Admission Policy

The school changed status from Middle to Primary School in September 2003. This will affect admission numbers. The school's admission number will be 60 (2 classes) but this number can be increased by agreement with the Governing Body and LEA. However there is a Government class size limit of 30 pupils in Key Stage 1. Each year the school is heavily oversubscribed.

The school will admit pupils in accordance with the following criteria.

  • Children who have a brother or sister already in school
  • The distance from the school a child lives

Parents are expected to make suitable arrangements for children to get to and from school safely. For more information please see the N.C.C. Information for Parents.

Reception

Children are allocated places by the Local Education Authority.

Starting School

Once parents have registered a child at the school we will invite you to a New Parents Evening and give you the opportunity to meet staff. Reception class teachers will also offer a meeting early in the Autumn term to allow parents to discuss how their child is settling in.

Settling In

Our aim is to make the Reception Year a happy place and the best way of doing this is to make sure your child feels safe and at ease. We will admit new children on a part-time basis, some in morning sessions, others in afternoons, up to the first half-term so that we can give each child the necessary time, attention and special care which will ensure a successful start.

In Reception we would like your child to become more independent and if they are ready to leave you at the door from day one please encourage them to do so. However children can be brought in from 8.50am, when the teacher and classroom assistant will be available, and then picked up from class at the end of the session.
