The Curriculum

Children begin to learn from birth and school education builds upon the foundations laid at home. Our whole curriculum aims to develop every aspect of the children's individual abilities and potential, and to enable them to take a full part in school life and in society. It is seen as "the sum of experiences to which a child is exposed at school". Social and emotional development takes place alongside the provisions made for academic progress.

Please note that Ofsted graded Delapre's curriculum as "outstanding".

In framing our curriculum we:-

  • Seek to match children's stages of development and take account of individuals needs
  • Follow LEA and National Curriculum guidance, including Foundation goals for pre 5's
  • Plan as a whole staff to provide continuity, balance and progression
  • Believe that children learn most effectively through including some relevant practical activities
  • Provide equal opportunity for all pupils, regardless of gender, race, culture, religion or disability.
